Full length view of a custom built baritone uke from Kanile'a Ukuleles
Beautiful Kanile'a baritone uke custom built by Joe Souza, owner of Kaniel's on Oahu Island. Great craftsmanship and unbelievable tone and sustain. Can't be beat for your once-in-a-lifetime uke!
I had almost forgotten about this place.
It's so good to see more uke folks online!
Anyway, I thought I may inform you of my new addition.
I finally got around to adopting a poor lonely baritone uke this morning with the money I had been saving to buy an iPhone. (Screw the iPhone, the capitalist pigs!)
Amen.
Anyway. It's an Ohana BK-20, and I'll be sure to update as soon as it comes in (in 1-3 days, woot!) My lovely Mitchell MU70 has a new big sister. (I'm such a nerd.)
I really need to get some videos up in this joint.
Later!
Great to see you all again.
And I want to meet you new guys!
Loves,
Mandi
birthday countdown = 2 weeks!
Traditionally, as most people surely do, I buy myself a birthday present after my birthday. Last year, I caved in and bought a nice cell phone, and this year, I was super ready to buy two baritone ukes from Luthier's flea market section of Ukulele World2 -- $84 for two, as is, youfixem!
And I was excited. I only started playing ukulele this past Christmas (my boyfriend is wonderful and he spoils me) and I was eager to explore a ukulele world outside of my little concert ukulele atmosphere. As the description revealed, all that needed to be done to these darling ukuleles was a little fret-filing and general "setting up," whatever that means.
And I was excited. It was like adopting puppies.
And then the addiction began...
But later, someone had bought all of these sickly baritone ukuleles and now, all that's left on the flea market page are some gig bags. Ugh.
I'll still be watching. And I was curious to know if any of you are into that: fixing up ukuleles. Naturally, eventually I'll want one of each (maybe not a soprano; I haven't really decided) and if I have to fix them up, that would be awesome! Like I said ... adopting puppies. And if any of you do that, please let me know where you find these puppies, because I'm very interested in learning the repair and "setup" processes. :)
You guys are great, by the way. I can't wait to see some videos!! Get crackin'!
